About "Word of the Week"

Abundant with different cultures from around the world, Los Angeles is a Rosetta stone for students eager to learn about culture and language. Every week LaGente.org will spotlight words, phrases, and/or quotes from various languages followed by a translation along with an interesting fact about the language and culture of the regions these words are found. Just to start, we will focus on Nahuatl, Zapotec, Quecha, Portuguese, and Spanish slang from different regions. We'd love to incorporate other languages from Latin American to fully represent the complexity of Latin American and Angelino culture. Please feel free to contribute to this section.
